Year 5

Throughout the Spring 1 term, the Year 5 children will continue to explore Space - answering all of their big questions! This will enhance their scientific curiosity and use of scientific questions. Alongside this, the children will be focusing on orienteering in Geography and creating moon buggies in D&T. The children will also begin their swimming lessons.

In English, the children will be refining their grammatical knowledge to create accurate pieces of writing. This will be supported by reading a range of books during Spring 1. In Reading, we will be reading and analysing Wonder, Wolf brother and Cloudbusting. They will continue to use their VIPERS when answering questions to enhance their comprehension. During the next six weeks, in Maths the children will be consolidating their multiplication, division and fractions knowledge before moving onto perimeter and area.
